The unique TENTH AVENUE BAND from Newcastle upon Tyne has been entertaining audiences throughout the region for more than 15 years on the streets, at festivals, parties, weddings, theatre openings, balls and outdoor events.
We are a street band of around 20 musicians, roughly even numbers of men and women and with ages ranging from twenty plus to sixty plus. We play a mix of jazz, blues, African tunes, ska, klezmer, and Latin dance music. We aim to look good as well as play music, so we have a locally themed costume and no music stands. We are serious about music being fun!
As well as playing across the North East of England, Tenth Avenue Band has performed at events all over Britain and travelled throughout Europe to France, Holland, Germany, Italy, Spain and the Czech Republic.
For most events we charge a modest fee but this is negotiable, especially for charity events. We also organise some events ourselves, including international street band festivals, and busk in the street.
