Constitution

The band has a constitution (available on request); it is self managed by its own members who are unpaid. All money earned by the band goes back to the band fund and is used to develop the quality of the band’s musicianship, performance and repertoire, as well as to subsidise exchange visits with similar bands across Europe.

Rehearsals

We rehearse once a week above The Chillingham Pub in Heaton, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, where we improve existing repertoire, learn new pieces and have a brief, democratic meeting time. There is also a wide variety of good, real ale.

 Members

We are not a static band in any sense of the word! So membership changes over time. We think of ourselves as an ‘open’ band that people can join if they will fit in musically and socially. Obviously, it is important for us to have a good balance of instruments and we like to have several people in each section.

Over the years people have moved on from the Tenth Avenue Band to other bands locally or to other parts of the country. We keep in touch with many of these musical friends and occasionally invite them back for special events.
